Essential PH-1 price gets dropped to $499

The Essential Phone PH-1 has to one of the few smartphones that enjoyed as much hype as this year’s flagship Samsung or Apple iPhone. The fact that you get a lot of breakthrough technology with a stock Android interface was already looking like a good deal for most consumers and as if that wasn’t enough, there’s an even sweeter deal on this flagship smartphone — it’s got a massive price cut.

The Essential PH-1 is now available at a price of $499 (Rs 32,446), which is $200 cheaper than its launch price tag. That makes it the bargain of this year, considering the amount of technology you are getting — a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage as well as a 5.7-inch LTPS LCD display with extremely narrow bezels. It also runs stock Android 7.1 Nougat, which is promised to be upgraded to Android Oreo 8.0.

As for those who have already bought it, the company will give a $200 ‘friends and family’ credit so that they can get either get a new Essential PH-1 or the 360-camera attachment for a lot less. The price drop brings this phone on par with the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, which also has similar specifications and a similar narrow-bezel display. However, there’s no news as to whether this phone will be sold in India or not.
