While the iPhone X has managed to grab significant attention with its gimmicky Face ID, Samsung is now speculated to be working on an enhanced iris scanner to take on the iPhone X's killer feature and make a smartphone that stands as a competitor to every other device in the Android segment.

The upcoming Galaxy S9 is reportedly in works and rumours about its existence are already doing rounds. According to Korean outlet ET News, Samsung is developing new software to make face recognition on the Galaxy S9 faster than its predecessor. The company is reportedly not favouring any hardware upgrade, and the upcoming Galaxy smartphone is said to borrow few of its specifications from the Galaxy S8.

“There may be new add-ons through software applications” alongside boosts to the response speeds of the iris scanner and Samsung’s facial recognition tech, ET News stated.

Some previous rumours claimed that the Galaxy S9 will have dual camera setup with BABR coating 'broad-band anti-reflection.' The leaks also suggest that the flagship with a substrate-like PCB (SLP) motherboard will give space to a battery pack.
