Vivo takes style seriously with the S1 phone.

The Vivo S1 is one of the prettiest devices we have seen in the segment. It ditches the curved edges for the premium glass-like rear.

Chocolate boys are cute, yet have the muscle and brains to defend, attack and save. Vivo's latest number -- the S1 -- is the chocolate boy the industry needed.

For a brand that has consistently introduced state-of-the-art features -- from in-screen fingerprint sensors to pop-up cameras -- at affordable prices, Vivo has gone on to become a household brand, cutting across the socio-demographic lines, thanks also to its association with cricket through the Indian Premier League. With the S1, Vivo embarks on a new journey, this time to woo the millennial fashionista.

The first thing that catches your eye is the blingy, yet classy back design. The device comes in two variants -- a diamond black with diamond-cut design patterns of blue and black. The rear camera module comes with a golden contoured ring that takes the design a notch higher. The skyline blue variant is inspired by global landscapes and the evening sky, providing a subtle yet shiny gradient effect. The in-display fingerprint sensor comes with additional animations, adding to the style element of the 6.4-inches device, which is sturdy to hold and operate.

Powered by the MediaTek Helio P65 processor, the S1 offers a 4500mAh battery and an 18W dual charging engine. The triple camera of this device comes in a 16MP + 8MP + 2MP configuration for primary, depth and wide-angle photography, along with a 32MP front camera that features AI Beauty, real-time stickers and personalized selfie lighting. Both the camera modules create good low-light and daylight photographs, with Vivo's own optimizations to make them social media friendly. One cool camera tool is the Jovi Image Recognizer, which uses AI to recognize the item you want from hundreds of e-biz sites.

The Vivo S1 is priced at Rs 17,990 (4GB + 128GB), Rs 18,990 (6GB + 64GB), and Rs 19,990 (6GB + 128GB), and if you take style seriously, this one is a steal at under Rs 20,000.

If you are more of a performance and less of a style person, do remember that Vivo launched sometime back, the Z1 Pro, that is optimized for gaming and performance, powered by the Snapdragon 712, and a 5000mAh battery.
