Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite Android One phone launch teased

Xiaomi has now confirmed that it will launch not one but two Android One smartphones at its global launch event.

Xiaomi recently confirmed that the successor to the Mi A1 will soon debut in India. Xiaomi is widely rumoured to launch Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite at its global launch event. Following that, the company has now confirmed that it will indeed launch not one but two Android One smartphones at its global launch event in Spain, scheduled to take place on July 24. Now, this in a way confirms that Xiaomi could launch Mi A1's successor continuing the legacy of being a part of Google's Android One. Also, a cheaper variant — Mi A2 Lite is expected to be unveiled. The Mi A1 is one of the best budget smartphones launched last year.

"We are giving you ALL not 1 but 2 smartphones on July 24th! Any guesses?" Xaiomi asked its fans through its Twitter account. The tweet includes an image, that shows two smartphones with the rear panel. The teaser doesn't reveal much about the smartphones but does confirm that the devices will feature a vertically aligned dual rear camera system. Speculations are rife that the Mi A1 will sport a 12MP+20MP camera sensor, both featuring a f/1.75 aperture along with a LED flash module. For selfies, it could sport a 20MP camera sensor with artificial intelligence capabilities, including an AI Portrait mode. The Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, is also rumoured to feature a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera setup and a 5MP front shooter.

Apart from the optics, the Mi A2 is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset accompanied by 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The handset is most likely to run on Android 8.1 Oreo-out-of-the-box and flaunt a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Mi A2 Lite, on the other hand, is expected to run on a Snapdragon 625 SoC aided by up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of onboard storage, expandable up to 256GB. The handset could pack a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi could stuff in a 3000mAh battery in Mi A2 and 4000mAh battery in Mi A2 Lite.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Mi A2 is rumoured to cost around CHF 289 (approximately Rs 20,000) for the 32GB variant, CHF 329 (approximately Rs 22,800) for the 64GB variant and CHF 369 (approximately Rs 25,600) for the 128GB variant. The website called AliExpress suggested that the Mi A2 Lite could come with a starting price of $189.99 (approximately Rs 13,000).
