LG has just launched phones where you can choose the kind of notch you have, probably putting an end to the notchy-wars.

Smart phone design philosophies keep changing every year. While the Motorola Pebble flipped open and the Nokia Communicator slid open, most others maintained the chocolate bar form factor. Over the last couple of years, the action shifted to the screen itself. The latest innovation in smart phones is in-screen cameras where the front camera is hidden under the screen with just a tiny dot showing up. Before this, there was the screen-to-body battle, where brands calculated the percentage of the screen in the front panel. Then came the era of the notch. Brands oscillated between big, small and medium-sized notches that either housed the camera and microphone, or ended up being just a blip, or a tear drop on the screen. LG has just launched phones where you can choose the kind of notch you have, probably putting an end to the notchy-wars.

LG claims that its W series of smart phones are made in India and made for India, with the active involvement of its R&D centre in Bangalore, and its manufacturing plant in Noida. The series focuses on the symmetric design and all-round performance of camera, battery, display and processing. Each of these devices lets you choose from three notch options including a U notch and a full-screen no notch. Here, the notification bar is completely blacked out, giving you a bezel-less experience that gamers will appreciate.

The W10 comes in an 8 MP primary and a 13 MP + 5 MP rear camera setup with PDAF and image stabilization. The W30 comes with a 16 MP front and a 12 MP + 13 MP + 2 MP triple camera with one dedicated exclusively to low light photography. Both are powered by the Helio P22 processor and are juiced up by a 4000 mAh battery, a 3 GB + 32 GB memory configuration, with AI-driven face unlock and camera Bokeh.

The 6.19 inches W10 is priced at Rs 8,999 while the W30 is available for Rs 9,999. For an all-in-one device that takes photography seriously, LG has hit the jackpot with these two. The third one in the lineup -- W30 Pro -- will launch soon.
