Earlier in the day, Xiaomi announced its new affordable smart television — the Mi TV 4A, for the Indian market in two sizes — 32-inches and 43-inches. While the TVs are expected to gather momentum like the Xiaomi smartphones in the budget smartphone, the company has teased a new smartphone for the Indian market to be launched on the 14th of March. Our guess — the Redmi 5 is almost here.

The launch video of the Mi TV 4A ends with a smartphone shown in its side profile. The device is teased with a slight camera bump, which indicates that it will be budget Redmi 5 device. The Redmi Note 5 launched in India is essentially the Redmi 5 Plus from China with a similar camera bump. The device sports a metallic side frame like the recently launched Redmi Note 5 Pro. Xiaomi is expected to launch this one on March 14th.

Redmi 5 teaser

The Redmi 5 is essentially an upgrade to the Redmi 4 from 2017 with all the modern elements — a new Snapdragon 450 chipset and a modern 18:9 display. The smartphone has been launched in China with a 5.7-inch 720p display along with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage. It runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, although the company could launch it with a build of Android Oreo. It sports a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. It also sports a fingerprint sensor like its predecessor. It is fuelled by a 3300mAh battery.

If this rumour is supposed to become true in the upcoming days, the expect Xiaomi to price the Redmi 5 within Rs 7,000 and Rs 9,000. Stay tuned for all the news related to the Redmi 5.
