New Nokia’s promise of delivering timely security updates to its customers beats that of Google’s promise for the Pixel flagship.

It should be noted that Nokia has rolled out the July security update only for its customers in Hong Kong and Taiwan as of now, with the imminent release of the same for Nokia 6 users across the world.

The new Nokia under HMD Global’s umbrella has gone for a different approach for providing mobile telephony solutions. Nokia’s decision to go for the widely accepted Google’s Android operating system for its new smartphones has paid off well, with millions getting a well-built Android smartphone for a relatively lesser price than the competition. To stand true to their promise of providing the best smartphone experience, Nokia has delivered the latest security patch for Android to its Nokia 6 handset.

While it may seem absolutely normal for any manufacturer to roll out security updates, the interesting bit in Nokia’s rollout is that they have released the July security patch to Nokia 6 handsets before the same had been done by Google for its Pixel smartphones. In the world of Android, Google’s own Pixel line-up gets the latest version of Android followed by other manufacturers. Since Nokia utilises the stock Android interface, it doesn’t have to deal with any pesky process of making newer update patches work with custom interfaces. The result is faster update delivery to its consumers.

It should be noted that Nokia has rolled out the July security update only for its customers in Hong Kong and Taiwan as of now, with the imminent release of the same for Nokia 6 users across the world. However, this makes things pretty positive for Nokia, with the only OEM to compete with Google in terms of releasing updates.
