Samsung’s Unpacked Event will take place earlier than last year’s event.

The dust is yet to settle on the launch of the OnePlus 6 and rumours about another upcoming flagship have started making the rounds. The latest rumour points to Samsung’s flagship device, the next Galaxy Note.

As per a report, Samsung is expected to take the wraps off the next Galaxy Note which is referred to as the Galaxy Note 9 at the brand’s Unpacked event slated for August 9, 2018. The event will reportedly take place in New York and this year’s event will be held two weeks earlier than when it was held last year while announcing the Galaxy Note 8.

Another point of note is that Samsung intends to make the Galaxy Note 9 available for purchase as early as August. The people in the know said that even though end August was the time frame, the date could still shift. If Samsung does intend to launch the Galaxy Note 9 by end August, then it could put a serious dent in the sales of the next generation iPhones; one of which is expected to be a larger Plus sized version that is rumoured to have a screen size of 6.5-inches.

As far as specifications go, very little is known but people familiar with the matter claim that when Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 9, the South Korean tech giants will highlight an upgraded camera. There may be no cosmetic changes to the design and in all likelihood, the Galaxy Note 9 will look similar to the Note 8. The next generation Note will feature an upgraded Qualcomm processor for certain markets.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is believed to have two variants, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor for some markets, and an Exynos 9810 for others. The next Galaxy Note will come with 8GB RAM and a massive 512GB of internal storage.

The report goes on to put some sales numbers into perspective with Samsung owning 23 percent of the smartphone market while Apple having 16 percent, according to data obtained from IDC.

As of now, one should take this information with a pinch of salt as they are still rumours. More details regarding the Unpacked event will be finalized closer to the date when Samsung send out their invites.
