Informatica expands R&D centre to focus on innovations
US-based data management company Informatica is expanding its research and development centre in India to double its existing capacity of 1100 employees to focus on global innovations coming in from the R&D team in the country.
Headquartered in Redwood, California, the company that has its R&D centres in nine other countries, India being the largest of these centres, inaugurated its new facility in Bengaluru today.
“In past we have seen a lot of innovation coming from India, such as Live Data Map, which works like Google for enterprises, helping them search through data present on their systems or servers,” said Bruce Chizen, executive chairman of Informatica.
With Informatica’s data driven solutions already being a part of many industry verticals, including finance, telecom, healthcare and ecommerce, public services verticals have also been using data driven solutions.
Referring to India’s unique identification project that could possibly be termed as the world’s largest database, the head of Digital India Foundation, Arvind Gupta who was also a part of the launch said that data is the new currency for the government and players, like Informatica have a lot of scope in contributing for government projects.
The new centre, which can accommodate over 1000 people, will be focused on India specific problems and build solutions that could be extended to solve global issues, said Anil Chakra-varthy, CEO, Informatica.
The company said it will be investing USD 185 million in R&D globally in 2016.
