According to Bloomberg, Bezos has beaten Amancio Ortega and Warren Buffett to the second position following CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates who holds the number one position.
Recently, Bezos added $1.5 billion to his fortune as his company’s share rose to $18.35 billion yesterday, 29 March. Amazon experienced the surge a day after the company announced its plans to buy Middle East’s largest online retailer, Souq.com.
“Bezos has a net worth of $75.6 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, $700 million more than Berkshire Hathaway Inc’s Buffett and $1.3 billion above Ortega, the founder of Inditex SA and Europe’s richest person,” the report read.
This is the third biggest rise on the index in 2017 after Chinese billionaire Wang Wei’s $18.4 billion gain and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s $11.4 billion rise.
