30,000 skills in India surpassed by Amazon Alexa skills store

Amazon also announces Alexa VOXCON, Amazon’s first-ever conference in India dedicated to all things voice on 18-19th September in New Delhi.

Amazon today announced that Alexa customers in India can now choose from over 30,000 skills offered by top brands and developers. The Alexa Skills Store in India features skills across categories like Astrology, Bollywood, Cricket, Devotion, Entertainment, Education, Food & Recipes, Homes Services, Kids, among others. Dedicated to helping leading brands and developers build skills and voice services with Alexa for a voice-first era, Amazon announced Alexa VOXCON in New Delhi on 18-19, September 2019.

Alexa is always getting smarter and developers continue to make this experience highly relevant for customers by building India specific skills. These include Sadhguru, Art of Living, Sanjeev Kapoor recipes, Ganesha Speaks and Bollywood Quizzes to name a few. Devotion skills like Hanuman Chalisa, Gayatri Mantra, Sai Darshan and music skills like All India Radio continue to retain and attract new customers. Alexa remains popular among kids with skills like Wild Planet, ChuChu TV, Hello Rhymes and Bedtime Stories. Developers are now naturally aligning with customer usage to include more locally used words and phrases in their Skills. Edutainment skills like WikiHow, Word of the Day, Riddle Time, India’s Interesting facts are emerging as new favourites.

Today, over 40 devices with Alexa Built-in are available to Indian customers, from multiple brands like Sony, LG, Bose, iBall, Panasonic and boat.
