As can be recalled, Pokemon Go began as frenzy trend back in the summer of 2016. One could observe every one in three smartphone users trying to catch Pokemon at every corner of the street. The phenomenon however, was soon abandoned by the end of August. It was reported back then that nearly half of the player base had abandoned the game.

Niantic tried reviving the game back to life in February this year by adding a whole new ‘Generation’ to the game. Much to the disappointment of most, this attempt was unsuccessful. Even after adding 100 Pokemons, the game hadn’t changed a lot. While there are still thousands of users who continue to play the game, the dedication that was once showered upon it has nearly vanished. It doesn’t appear like Niantic has given up yet. On June 19th, the game developer published a blogpost, announcing that Raid Battles and new Gym features will soon be coming to Pokemon Go. The update was immediately rolled out on June 22nd. The users had a completely new interface and rules — making the Pokemon Go gaming experience fun and exciting. In a span of six days, Pokemon Go managed to climb its way back on the sixth spot of the top grossing iOS apps in US, reported BGR. The game is also back in the top 100 free apps on the App Store.

If Niantic keeps the momentum up then there’s still hope for the game but chances of it stalling are equally possible.
