Sony has expanded its RX camera line-up and unveiled the RX0 waterproof action camera. The company has also launched SEL18135 lens in India. The camera has a BIONZ X processor and DRAM chip, and a wide-angle ZEISS Tessar T 24mm lens with an aperture of f/4.
The Sony RX0 sports a 1.0-inch Exmor RS CMOS image sensor and it supports sensitivity up to ISO 12800. The RX0 supports an Anti-Distortion Shutter feature with a fast shutter speed of 1/32000 per second. The company claims that this feature reduces the rolling shutter effect experienced with fast-moving subjects. Further, the lens can shoot up to 16fps frame rate and also super slow motion functionality at a frame rate of up to 960/1000fps.
The portable RX0 has an IP68 certified build that is operable immersed in up to a water depth of 10 meters (33 ft) and the depth can further be increased up to 100 meters when paired with the new MPK-HSR1 Housing. Sony claims that the RX0 camera is shock-resistant and can survive a fall from up to 2 meters.
Additionally, Sony is bringing a list of Sony RX0 accessories, including the VCT-CGR1 Cage, MPK-HSR1 Housing, CPT-R1 Cable Protector, VF-SPR1 Spare Lens Protector, VFA-305R1 Filter Adaptor Kit, NP-BJ1 Rechargeable Battery Pack, and ACC-TRDCJ Accessory Kit.
The SEL18135 lens has a 7.5x optical zoom and a focal length of 18-135 mm (27-202.5 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length). The lens weighs about 325 grams and has a minimum aperture of f/36 and a maximum aperture of f/3.5. It also has OIS and gives a magnification ratio of 0.29x.
The new camera comes with a price tag of Rs 64,990 and the SEL18135 Zoom lens cost around Rs 49,990. Both the offering are available for purchase via Sony Centre, Alpha Flagship Stores and Sony authorised dealers.
