If it’s Apple, it has to be special. Whether you go for their iPhone, iPod or MacBook, the devices make you feel special as their owner. The minimalist approach to their product designs and functionality makes them appealing to not only consumers but other manufacturers as well. The Cupertino giant also strives to provide a unique experience to potential or existing customers through its Apple Stores. They are generally made of glass and fancy lighting, with full prominence to the Apple products inside the store. However, the upcoming Apple Store in Chicago is aiming to make an unparalleled impression to the world with this – a MacBook shaped rooftop.

And it’s not simply a brick and mortar roof shaped to resemble the MacBook. The Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Avenue store has its unique rooftop made of lightweight carbon fibre – a stuff that you will find on Lamborghini’s and other exotic supercars. The walls of the store are all strong glass, 14 to 32 feet high and measuring half-inch, which is protected by an additional layer of thick laminated glass.

Even though it might take some time before the store opens its doors, DNAinfo Chicago posted a video showing the construction workers trying out the Apple logo on top of the roof. The logo was removed shortly, thus indicating the store’s opening later in the year.

The 20,000 square-foot store has been designed by Foster+Partners and will be showcasing an outdoor plaza and the popular video wall from the San Francisco store – The Forum, alongside Apple’s wide range of smartphones, laptops, desktops and accessories.
