WhatsApp has now added video calling to its messaging platform. As an update for most Android users who are registered as beta users, video calling is now available for face-to-face chats.

With this new feature, WhatsApp developers are now testing the feasibility of the messaging platform and its servers for face chatting.

Users can now chat using video, similar to Skype, Hangouts and other such video calling apps. With the new feature enabled only for beta users, WhatsApp is presently testing the data bandwidth and optimising its app for the final release with video for all users.

If you have enrolled as a beta tester, you may not be able to see any video calling icon. To chat with video, all you need to do is search for your contact and hit the call button on the top right corner. After clicking on the button, you will get two options — 'Voice call' and 'Video call'. If the recipient has the beta version too, you can make video calls. Else the app will notify you that the user is having an older version of WhatsApp and does not support video calls.

Presently the feature is enabled only for WhatsApp beta users on the Android platform and will be enabled for all regular users soon. In order to use the video calling, you need to enroll yourself for beta testing, which can be done by clicking on the link below.
