After triggering a massive price war last year, Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio is now planning to launch its own virtual reality app in 2018.

The company is aiming to explore the potential partnerships in future as two of the company’s top executives have visited the Birmingham City University to learn more about how the university is training the next generation of virtual reality (VR) professionals.

Furthermore, philmCGI, where around 90 artists provide computer-generated images and visual effects services in films and television, is also expanding its offer in VR and AR technology, which are taught through Birmingham City’s University’s Digital Media Technology (DMT) Lab.

“Today we have discussed a number of opportunities for collaboration. Lots of innovative solutions can be developed when applying fresh minds to companies such as ourselves,” Founder and Managing Director of philmCGI, Anand Bhanushali said.

Several tech giants such as Apple, Google and Microsoft believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next big thing in tech space. According to a report by Bloomberg, Google is reportedly working on a business-oriented variant of real-time augmented reality. Start-up Meta has developed a headset with a focus on education and medical applications. HTC and Oculus are also developing new virtual reality headsets. The new ‘mixed reality’ headsets by Microsoft cannot be ignored too.
