The app has a new feature that will let you know if a forwarded message has been forwarded too many times.

The app currently has about 400 million active users in India.

WhatsApp already let users know when they received a forwarded message with a single arrow on top telling users about the feature. Now a new feature will let users know if the message they have received has been forwarded over five times.

The new feature can be spotted easily as these frequently forwarded messages will be marked with a double arrow on top instead of a single arrow.

WhatsApp has been testing the feature for a while and the company says that the number of times a message is forwarded remains end-to-end encrypted.

The app is also planning on shortening long text messages. These texts notoriously spam groups. The users who are interested will still have the option to tap and see the whole message.

Users who send these long messages will also receive a notification.

The new WhatsApp features are likely steps taken to counter the spread of misinformation and fake news. The app has also been running awareness campaigns for the same.

WhatsApp is also soon launching its payment interface in the country. Global Head Will Cathcart said that the company was aiming to launch the service by the end of 2019. The app currently has about 400 million active users in India.
