Game Developers Conference cancelled over Coronavirus fears

California: After the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020, another major tech event to get cancelled is the Game Developers Conference (GDC) over likely fears about the further spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

"After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we've made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March," the official blog said, without citing a reason.

The event had been scheduled for March 16-March 20, 2020.

The GDC website says the event brings together the community of game development community to exchange ideas, solve problems, and shape the future of the industry, over the five-day meet. Typically, programmers, artists, producers, game designers, audio professionals, and business leaders take part in the GDC.

“Having spent the past year preparing for the show with our advisory boards, speakers, exhibitors, and event partners, we're genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time,” the blog said, adding that it would host a GDC event later in the summer. Details of the summer event will be posted in the coming weeks, it added.
