A hat-trick by striker Aaryan Majumdar steered Campion into the Secondary football championship round, following a 3-0 semi-final win over St. Peter’s, Mazagaon, in the 29th All Maharashtra Anglo-Indian Schools tournament, at the Barnes School & Junior College, Devlali on Monday.

In the basketball semi-finals for girls, Cathedral & John Connon thrashed Christ Church 31-2 with captain Anjali Narain scoring 14 points, to set up the title clash against Bishop’s (Kalyaninagar), Pune who romped to a surprise 54-31 win over Bishop’s (Camp), Pune in a thriller.

Campion will take on Bishop’s (Kalyaninagar), Pune who ended Bombay Scottish, Powai’s campaign with a 1-0 win in the other Secondary football semi-final.

After missing the target on three occasions in the first half, following volleys by Shayaan Sanghavi and Majumdar, and St. Peter’s missing the mark through Aawez Qureshi and Arsh Salim, Majumdar began his goal-scoring spree with a double strike in quick succession just before the half time. While St. Peter’s struggled to come back into the match in the second half, Majumdar struck again five minutes from close to seal an impressive win.
