Bespectacled Anupriya Ratadiya sprang a surprise as she stunned eight seeded Ovi Kadam in a thrilling  women’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the women’s singles in the MCF-4 Star All -Mumbai ranking tournament in at Borivali. Anupriya fought back from 0-2 deficit to win the tie 9-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7,11-8, 7-11, 11-9. However, her progress was cut short by top seeded Divya Deshpande with a 11-4, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 win in the quarterfinals.

Likewise, another home player, Siddhi Kolekar, who thrashed Meghal Furia 11-5, 11-4, 11-9, later was at the receiving end against India junior Ananya Basak, daughter of Arup Basak, a former national champion, who won  11-9, 11-2,11-4, 11-9 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Hard-hitting mercurial Swayam Ibrahampurkar overcame some anxious moments against Arnav Karnavar before rallying to win 8-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3, 10-12, 12-10, 11-9 to move into the  youth boys singles pre-quarterfinals. Swayam, in fact, had a good day, as later he outplayed his MCF compatriot Akshay Gogari 11-9, 11-7, 1-11, 14-12 to make the  men’s singles fourth round.
