The pick of the lot was the fight between Drew McIntyre and Cedric Alexander.
Toronto: Excitement continued on the international wrestling circuit with a series of fights on Monday Night Raw keeping the heat up post the Summer Slam here. The Scotiabank Arena was packed yet again as some of the big names in WWE took centrestage to engage delightful fans.
There was Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and the sizzling Sasha Banks among others who set the ring on fire in yet another entertaining night that saw quite a few flying bodies... and chairs.
The pick of the lot was the fight between Drew McIntyre and Cedric Alexander. The latter startled the Scot with a sharp kick early on and ran circles around him but eventually the bigger Drew bulldozed his way through Cedric, slamming him to the floor. And yes, their spectacular flights and falls evoked that now familiar chant from the crowd: “This is awesome!”
Sasha Banks’ blasting Becky Lynch was another top draw. They brawled in and around the ring a bit before launching into fast-paced fisticuffs that got blown into a bitter fight with American Banks raining Becky’s body with a series of shots using a chair to leave the Irishwoman in a wreck. Ouch!
The Women’s Tag Team (doubles) Title Match too was gripping as Asuka & Kairi Sane, who comprise the Kabuki Warriors, plunged full on into a scrap up with Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. They set furious pace to push the defending champions onto the backfoot before Bliss turned it on by sending Asuka into the post and out of the match. Nikki then nailed Kairi before Alexa made it blissful as they retained the title.
In another match, the popular Samoa Joe made short work of Sami Zayn after quite a bit of trash talk.
Midway though, several wrestlers rushed into the ring to interrupt the match between The Revival and Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik with anyone fighting anyone in some serious fun that had the crowd in splits.
Towards the end, new Universal Champion Seth Rollins got the better of US Champion AJ Styles in a fight that saw Braun Strowman, Ricochet, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows barging into the ring to make it a multiple-cornered affair. Eventually, big Braun cleared the ring, retrieved the belt from the ringside and handed it over to a deserving Rollins.
