Top javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will be India’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games, the Indian Olympic Association announced on Friday.
Under-20 world champion Chopra registered a season best effort of 86.47m at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games to win gold.
In May, the 20-year-old set a new national record at the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 87.43m. He recently also won titles at the Savo Games in Finland and the Sotteville Athletics meet in France.
