Ravi shines for Ghatkopar Kreeda Pratisthan

Ghatkopar Kreeda Pratisthan ‘A’ subdued fancied Mastan YMCA ‘B’ 34-31 in an exciting mini boys match, in the NBA basketball tournament, at the Bachoo Khan Municipal playground, Nagpada on Tuesday.

GKP, who trailed 6-8 in the first quarter, lit up the contest with a brilliant comeback in the second quarter that left the teams 12-12 at half time. While Mastan put up a spirited challenge, GKP’s spearhead Ravi K single-handedly changed the script in the last quarter.

With individual brilliance, Ravi, who was rewarded with 20 points, swelled the tally from 18-16 to 22-16 that gave GKP an envious cushion five minutes from time. He added three more baskets in quick succession that led GKP to a crucial 34-31 lead two minutes from the end. Under pressure, Mastan missed the target in those crucial last moments as GKP held on to snatch a tight win.

On a day of close encounters, Bandra YMCA enjoyed a rewarding day when they beat Fr. Agnel’s 53-47 in a junior boys tie, after dominating the first half and enduring a second half challenge, while the men beat St. Peter’s Friends Association 64-51 while enduring stiff resistance in all the four quarters.
