Visakhapatnam: India captured five wickets in the morning session to inch closer to victory against England in the second Test on Monday.

At lunch on the fifth and final day, England were reeling at 142 for seven in the second innings after resuming on 87-2.

The tourists required another 263 runs for an unlikely victory while India had two sessions to pick up the final three wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the five match series.

When the session ended, England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow was unbeaten on 23 with Zafar Ansari yet to score on a worn pitch suiting the spinners.

Needing to bat through the final day to salvage a draw, England made a bad start when Ben Duckett went for a duck, caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha off Ravichandran Ashwin.

Moeen Ali made just two before he was caught at backward short leg off Ravindra Jadeja as India began to tighten the screws.

Ben Stokes was bowled for six by off-spinner Jayant Yadav after the drinks break then Mohammed Shami used the second new ball to get rid of Joe Root (25) and Adil Rashid (4) and leave India in total command.
