Mumbai: This year’s Ashes turned out to be the most intriguing series in the history of cricket after it witnessed many records being tumbled. However, among all of those records, there was one weird record that also got broken during the recently concluded 2019 Ashes series.

During the recently concluded Ashes series, both Australia and England went through the problem of creating a stable and sound opening partnership. And, the same was witnessed when Australia’s opener Marcus Harris was dismissed for nine in the first innings, and at that time Australia reached 18.

Due to the openers’ struggle to score runs for both the teams, a 113-years-old world got broken. And, that was the lowest average opening partnership in a Test series of five or more matches.

After the Harris got out, the average first wicket partnership in the Ashes 2019 now stands at 12.55. The previous record was 14.16 during in the five-Test series between South Africa and England in 1906.
