Mumbai: Australian batsman Steve Smith probably played some of the best knocks of his life in the ongoing Ashes series. His performance has been widely praised all over the world. But, throughout the series, he has been taunted and booed for his role in the 2018 sandpaper-gate scandal.

Steve Smith scored an astonishing 671 runs at an average of 134.2, including three hundreds and a double hundred, despite missing England's one-wicket win in the third Test at Headingley with a concussion.

However, after winning the fourth Ashes Test, Australia were in a jubilant mood as they had retained the Ashes. Their celebrations began on the ground itself after the ceremony. World’s number one Test batsman, Steve Smith, was also in a celebratory mood. To celebrate his team’s win, Smith donned a pair of glasses to mock former Australian cricketer Chris Rogers.

Interestingly, the British media reported that Smith had done the act in a bid to mock Ashes hero Jack Leach along with third Test’s man of the match, Ben Stokes. To support the British media, English cricket’s county club Somerset Cricket took to Twitter to mock Steve Smith on Friday.

The club reportedly had tweeted a picture of Jack Leach with Steve Smith and stated, "One of the greatest batsmen of this generation having a chat with Steve Smith at the Oval this evening."
