Mumbai: India registered first win of the three-match ODI series after Virat Kohli hit 120 which was 42nd ton of his career to take 1-0 lead in the series after the first match got washed out due to rain.

However, after India won the match, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly was all praise for the 30-year-old as he stated in a tweet, “Virat kohli another master class in one day cricket @imVkohli @BCCI.. what a player.”

En route to Kohli’s 120, the Indian skipper became India’s second highest-ODI run-scorer. Ganguly, who had scored 11,353 ODI runs in 311 matches, was overtaken by the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain in just 238 matches.

Virat Kohli has now scored eight tons versus the Caribbeans, becoming the first-ever player to score eight or more hundreds against three different oppositions in ODIs. The 30-year-old had previously scored eight hundreds against Sri Lanka and Australia.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar had nine tons against Australia and eight versus Sri Lanka. Kohli also surpassed Javed Miandad to become the first cricketer to score 2000 runs versus West Indies.
