Mumbai: The ICC World Cup 2019 Man of the Tournament and the New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson celebrates his 29th birthday today. One of modern cricket’s finest batsmen is a blessing for the eyes whenever he is on a roll. He has played a very important role in making New Zealand a formidable force in world cricket.

The right-hander made his debut in August 2010 and since has been performing at the biggest stages for the Kiwis. He has played 72 tests in which he has scored 6139 runs, 6133 runs in 149 ODIs and 1505 runs in 57 T20Is.

So, on this Maestro’s birthday let’s take a look at some of the most beautiful innings played by him.

With the openers back to the pavilion pretty early on, Williamson came in at number four and immediately struck a tune with captain Ross Taylor. He showed great grit and determination to notch-up his third test century. He went on to guide the Kiwis to a total of 412 in the first innings.

Vice-Captain for this match, Williamson entered the pitch against an experienced Indian bowling side. He managed to weather the storm and stayed undeterred to score 113 in the first innings. New Zealand scored 503 in the first innings and went on to win the match by 40 runs.

The World Cup 2019 was meant to be Kane Williamson’s and this match was no different. He managed to outperform the South African bowling attack after an initial onslaught which saw the Kiwis lose four wickets within a span of a few runs. He scored an unbeaten knock of 106 to ensure that New Zealand’s unbeaten start would remain intact.

The 2019 World Cup was his first stint as captain and on his first stint itself he managed to take his team all the way to the finals. But as luck would have it, he could not get his hands on the cup. He still has a lot more left to be achieved and there is no doubt that with his brilliance he can win it all.
