The lander measured and recorded audio of faint seismic signal, the first- ever recorded trembling.

Although the seismic event was too small to provide solid data on the planet's interior, the seismometer on the InSight will enable scientists to gather similar data. (Photo: ABC)

NASA's Insight Lander on Mars has captured what appears to be the first, likely instance of a quake on the Red Planet.

On April 6, the lander measured and recorded audio of faint seismic signal, the first- ever recorded trembling that appears to have come from inside the planet, the official blog noted.

Although the seismic event was too small to provide solid data on the planet's interior, the seismometer on the InSight will enable scientists to gather similar data.
