Male contraception has created quite a buzz in medical circles as the search for more ways to introduce birth control for men has been stepped up and research in the direction is moving forward..

But it seems that some of the initiatives have run into trouble as a medical trial had to be brought to a halt after 20 of 320 men participating in it complained that the side effects of the injections to be given six times a year were unbearable.

Given that the contraceptive has a 96% success rate, the side effects must be too intense for men to opt out of it. But it was discovered that the main complaints were muscle aches, mood changes, increased libido and acne, all of which are exactly what women face after taking the pill.

Although 75% of participants had no issues with side effects, these complaints were enough to bring the trial to an end and now that scientists know that hormonal contraception is a possibility they can address the concerns of men.
