Bengaluru: The coronavirus may have brought business to a halt all over the country but has not been able to stop romance from blossoming between two giraffes at the Bengaluru zoo.

Male giraffe Yadunandan, aged one and a half years, was moved from the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysuru to the Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru to pair up with a lonesome single female there named Gowri, aged four.

Gowri too is a Mysuru Zoo native, having moved from there to Bengaluru in April 2018. But now she was the lone giraffe at BBP.

The Mysuru Zoo is currently rich in giraffes, having seven now. Yadunandan himself was born in captivity to a pair named Krishnaraja and Babbly.

So it was decided that Yadunandan would be spared to BBP to eep Gowri company. The move had to be approved by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA).

It came, and Yadu was transported to BBP. But that was the easy party. He still had win the approval of Gowri.

When he was first released into her enclosure, Gowri examined him warily. But then the ice melted. After a few days, zoo officials decided they were compatible. Thus was a match made and at least two giraffes are not complaining about being locked in.
