Reigning MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo was all praise for the Buddh International Circuit on his recent visit to the track, and urged more youngsters in the country to take up motorsports as a professional career.

“I would like to see more people in India getting into motorsports and I am positive that with the kind of passion and enthusiasm they have, we will see India as a major force in motorsports in times to come,” said Lorenzo on the sidelines of his short stint at the BIC in Greater Noida near here.

“The BIC is a fantastic track of international standard and riding the YZF-R3 with Indian race enthusiasts was a great experience. I would definitely like to come back here,” the three-time world MotoGP champion added.

To the delight of the motorsport lovers, Lorenzo rode Yamaha’s flagship bike — YZF-R3 — for a few laps on the race track at the BIC.

The star rider is on his second visit to India with an aim of building a more sustainable motorsports fan community in the country and create interest amongst young enthusiasts in this field.

“I am extremely happy to be back in India. I had a great experience during my last visit and this time has been no different. I would also like to thank Yamaha for organising this vis-it,” said Lorenzo.

On the season which saw him claiming the MotoGP crown in Valencia recently, he added: “I had a great season this year and I would like to thank all my fans in India and world over for their continued support. I would also like to congratulate Team Yamaha on our 17th world championship win,” said the Spaniard.
