Specific information was available to the Delhi police about Indian Mujahideen operatives Syed Maqbool and Imran reconnoitring Dilsukhnagar, Begum Bazaar and Abids areas of Hyderabad in July 2012. This recce, the arrested operatives told sleuths, had been carried out on the instructions of top IM leader Riyaz Bhatkal. But later they said Riyaz told them to carry out a strike in Pune in retaliation to the imprisoning of another IM operative, Qateel Siddique, in a Pune jail. Maqbool and Imran, along with three associates, had been arrested by the Delhi police in October 2012. Agencies are looking into the information after Thursday evening’s twin bomb explosions in Dilsukhnagar which killed 13 people and injured 83. The previous major bomb attack in Hyderabad was on August 25, 2007, when two blasts took place almost simultaneously, killing over 40 people. The first blast on August 25, 2007 was in Lumbini amusement park and was followed by another at an eatery.
