The 22-year-old gangrape survivor was released after almost a week of hospitalisation from Jaslok Hospital on Peddar on late Tuesday night. The girl was brought to the hospital on Thursday night last week and remained admitted since. “The patient had improved steadily and our team of especially assigned for this patient medically for discharge yesterday evening and hence she was discharged late night,” said the hospital in a medical bulletin released on Wednesday evening. The hospital also had also waived off the medical bill of the patient but the state government will compensate them. “The hospital had considered the waving the expenses of the patient, however the state has graciously taken it up, for which we respect them,” Dr Tarang Gianchandani, acting CEO, Jaslok Hospital. While her relatives and treating doctors debated if she should cover her face to avoid being identified, sources said that it was suggested that she should walk out of the hospital like any other patient would do and she did that. Meanwhile, on the investigation front of the case, joint commissioner of police, crime Himanshu Roy and crime branch and sleuths visited the Shakti Mills compound along with the five accused to reconstruct the sequence of events that ended with the gangrape, on Wednesday. The police has said it also might record another supplementary statement of the victim. “We reconstructed the entire episode,” Mr Roy said. right from the victim and her male friend entering the compound, to clicking the photographs, asking for directions from the accused and finally the rape. Our cops only posed as the victims and asked the accused how exactly they committed the offence. There were only minor contradictions, which were ironed out. The reconstruction was video-graphed,” Mr Roy said. “We also might record a supplementary statement of the girl as she might have missed out on some details since she was in a distraught state of mind during her first statement,” he added. Bone ossification tests on all the five accused will take place on Thursday at the Nagpada police hospital.
