The Hounds of Baskerville A must watch show is Akash Khurana’s The Hounds of Baskerville. I caught the show at NCPA last October. The play was a spoof on the famous Sherlock Holmes story, which was enacted hilariously by the artistes on stage. The chemistry and audience interaction was especially interesting. Gingger Shankar Favourite album: Blackstar My favourite album right now is David Bowie’s Blackstar. A week before his death, my cousin Som brought the album over. He had told me about it and we just spent the entire night listening to it and marvelling at this masterpiece. We spoke about how in 50 years, people would still talk about this album and David Bowie. The drumming on this record is beyond words. It is a work of art. Nora Fatehi Favourite film: Queen My favourite film is Queen. I connected with the movie emotionally. The performances were top notch. After the film became a hit, it gave me hope that Bollywood is going in the right direction. The feel of the movie was raw and genuine. I understood every feeling of Kangana Ranaut and Lisa Haydon’s characters. When Rani gets out of her comfort zone, that’s when she learns new things, discovers herself and has a better understanding of the world. Sahil Thaker Favourite book: Outliers: The Story of Success This is a good book because it explains that achieving success in life is a lot more complicated than it looks. The author gives numerous examples of how certain external situations can open up extraordinary opportunities for success. He makes the point that some people do get the kind of ‘right place at the right time’ opportunity that allowed them to capitalise on their talent, a delineation that often separates moderate from extraordinary success. This is also why Asians excel at mathematics —their culture demands it. Dilnaz Irani Favourite TV show: Newsroom I recently saw this show called The Newsroom and I enjoyed it. It was an amazing blend of good performances and great writing. It was very relevant to current issues in every country and had a broader thread of moral dilemmas that each of us would face from time to time, in coping with our personal and professional lives. Anjali Pathak Favourite restaurant: Duck & Waffle in London One of my favourite restaurants is Duck and Waffle in London. Their signature dish is Duck and Waffle — a duck leg served on a savoury waffle topped with a perfectly done sunny side up, and finished with a maple mustard syrup. It’s pure genius and tastes absolutely delicious. The meal will always hold memories for me, as it was one of the first restaurants I tried when I moved to London.
