Random fan Boris Andre Gomes is now “in line” for a dream hangout with his favourite stand-up comedian Vir Das
Boris Gomes was just your everyday fan of comedy until he started an all-out Web campaign to meet his favourite stand-up comic — Vir Das. His campaign had one single goal — to have a talk with Vir “on many topics”. “I believe that he is very intelligent and I’d like to hit the peak of an awesome conversation,” wrote Boris on his page.
And there will be no awkward pauses midway either because guess what, Boris already has his talking points listed — on a chart! For example, point 1 is on how they share, “similar but not identical views about history, culture, politics, social systems and humour” and point 2 is about how Boris really wants to pick Vir’s “brain on a number of things” the comic still hasn’t spoken about. In fact, Boris has been constantly sharing posts and images on his wall to get Vir’s attention.
And on Wednesday, his plan has worked — well, sort of. Speaking to us, Vir confirmed that he has seen the campaign and that Boris is certainly “in line” for a meet. “But I want to keep it democratic and I have thrown open a poll on my social media pages asking fans should I, or should I not, meet Boris. I don’t know what’s going to happen... let’s see because I don’t even know if we’ll end up making those ‘potcasts’ together,” Vir said, referring to his now famous video blogs he’s been making for a while now.
“Alright Boris Andre Gomes....you have my attention kind sir. Let’s leave it to the fans...what say guys,” Vir wrote on his Facebook.
Boris’ campaign is rather unique because somehow, it has managed to harness the full power of social media for a chance, out-of-the-blue meeting with a star of choice. We wonder who’s next!
