How to get your colours right
Colour subconsciously plays an important role in our every day lives.

Colour subconsciously plays an important role in our every day lives. If the colour red signifies danger, green on the traffic signal reminds you to move ahead and blue inspires to you to be productive.
Colour consultant Meera Dabir will explore the role of colour in our everyday lives in a workshop today. The interactive session will be geared towards understanding the importance of colour in design, the emotional connotations behind these colours and a few strategies on choosing the right colour. She says, “It maybe on a subliminal level but colour plays an important role in communication. I am also looking forward to break down the colour palette and get people to perceive it.”
Meera says that colour, which is an important aspect in designing, is key to a successful product. She says, “Everybody has an opinion on colour. Colours bring products/things to life. The wrong colour on a design can often defeat a product.”
The most common problem, Meera says, is about the lack of education about colours. When she realised that understanding colours is actually a problem for people, she decided to take it up as a career. She says, “People can’t judge how much colour is too much or too little. And if they know what they want to express with colours, they don’t know how to. The roles of the colours remain constant, only mediums change. This workshop will guide people in the right direction.”
