Seasoned luger Shiva Keshavan on Sunday bagged a silver medal at the Asian Championships that concluded in Nagano, Japan.
The race consisted of two heats, closely contested by athletes. In the first heat, Keshavan was a mere 2/10th of a second behind and a minor technical snag cost him the gold medal in the second.
Japan’s Hidenari Kanayama took the gold, while Dong Hyeon Kim of Korea claimed the third place.“I am happy to add another medal to our kitty. This year has been extremely difficult for me financially and I am proud that despite that I have managed to keep India’s flag flying in international winter sports,” Keshavan said.
Keshavan will next participate in three of the remaining World Cups, all to be held in Germany.
