First case of its kind: Man fined for spitting in public place

Ahmedabad: In what is claimed to be the first case of its kind, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) fined a man for spitting pan masala in a public place.

Mahesh Kumar, a resident of eastern suburb of Naroda had to pay the authorities a fine of Rs 100 as reported by IANS. He was caught spitting in action near the Sardar Patel Statue Road on CCTV.

Isssuing an e-memo for violation of public health laws, the corporation said it is the first case in the country in a press release.

Ahmedabad, which is becoming stringent with its cleanliness laws, was recently selected as the top city in national cleanliness survey.
