Michael Zam and Jaffe Cohen's film will focus on Leigh's life and her relationship with Laurence Olivier. They were married from 1940 to 1960.
Leigh won the best actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 movie and Blanche DuBois in 'A Streetcar Named Desire' in 1951.
She suffered from bipolar disorder and tuberculosis, and died at the age of 53 in 1967, reported Variety.
Zam and Cohen's other projects include a biopic on Katharine Hepburn, another iconic performer of her era.
