Having been part of the music industry for 53 years, with more than 64 albums and multiple awards to her credit, UK-based blues legend Dana Gillespie is all set to rock India once again with her signature risqué blues.

A musician of whom Bob Dylan once said, “Her song writing is without doubt a major asset. Her self-penned catalogue is phenomenal and sets her apart as a truly unique talent”, Dana is being joined on her India tour by guitarist Jake Zaitz and pianist Matt Gest. The trio will perform at blueFrog Mumbai on November 25, followed by performances in Goa, Bengaluru and Delhi.

Dana has often been asked about her signature Blues style, and she explains its genesis by saying, “It’s all about rhythms and emotions. Emerging from a working class environment, it had elements of bawdiness in it. This made it fun. I say naughty is nice but risqué is better! I love seeing people walking away from my shows grinning ear to ear”.

She also counts among her inspirations the legendary Julia Lee, and tells us that she’s taken to heart Lee’s saying, “These are songs my mother taught me not to sing”!

Dana’s tour is part of Simply The Blues, the only blues festival that spans multiple cities across India. In September this year, STB had a successful four-city India tour with the French blues band, Lil Red & The Roosters.
