The Malabar Hill police has rescued two minor girls who were kidnapped from Bhopal a week ago and brought to Mumbai to be sold. Two youngsters have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and the Bhopal police has been informed to take the girls back to their homes.
Malabar Hill PSI Narendra Patil, API Rajesh Pokale, and staff, who were on nakabandi duty at 8pm on Wednesday, found two young men and two girls roaming around in a suspicious manner on the street at Teen Bakda near Walkeshwar. The girls looked frightened and when the policemen spoke to them, they realised something was amiss.
Mr Patil said, “We were patrolling in the area and found four of them (two young men and girls) roaming around in the area two or three times. The girls looked frightened, so we decided to approach them. We stopped them and asked a few questions like from where have you people come here, etc. We asked them for their names and identity cards. When we started questioning the girls, the boys, who were aged around 22 to 24 years, cut into the conversation and started telling us they were from Mumbai. One of the girls started crying so we decided to take them to the police station.”
“After strict interrogation, the boys accepted that they had brought the girls from Bhopal. We checked with the Bhopal police and found cases had already been registered at Ratibad Police Station, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, cr number 67/2016 u/s 363 IPC and cr no 68/2016 u/s 363 IPC,” said Mr Patil.
A case has been registered against the two boys – Mustafa Khan (20) and Raju Ninama (18), while the two minor girls aged 15 years have been rescued. When contacted, the Bhopal police station shared the required information with the Malabar Hill police. A squad from Bhopal constituted by PSI Sanjaykumar Singh and staff has already left Bhopal for Mumbai to take custody of the accused and help the victims return home.
