A 24-year-old call centre employee died in a road accident on Saturday morning in Borivali (east) after a heavy vehicle rammed into his motorbike on the western express highway.
A 24-year-old call centre employee died in a road accident on Saturday morning in Borivali (east) after a heavy vehicle rammed into his motorbike on the western express highway. The youth was killed on the spot, the police said.
The local Kasturba Marg police station has registered a case against an unknown driver and further investigation is on.
The deceased has been identified as Sayyed Majid Ali (24), a resident of Mira Road. Ali was working in a Malad-based call center and at the time of the accident was on his way to work.
Police sources said Ali was crossing the road near Shubha Regency Hotel, when a heavy vehicle that was allegedly overspeeding, knocked down his bike from behind.
The locals in their statement informed the officials that the no one had noticed the vehicle and they came to know about the incident only when they saw the biker lying in a pool of blood.
The driver of the vehicle immediately escaped from the spot and officials are now checking CCTV cameras in the area to get a clue about the vehicle.
At the time of the accident, Ali was wearing a helmet but the crash was so severe that his head got smashed severely in the accident. Later, the police was informed and after the panchnama, the body was sent to Bhagwati Hospital for autopsy.
