A 22-year-old woman committed suicide in Kandivali east on Saturday. The Samta Nagar police has registered a case and further investigation is on into the reason behind the death.
A 22-year-old woman committed suicide in Kandivali east on Saturday. The Samta Nagar police has registered a case and further investigation is on into the reason behind the death.
The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Parmeshwar Gorkhe (22). Lakshmi married a resident of Samta Nagar area recently and was staying in a chawl with her husband and in-laws. On Saturday afternoon she hanged herself from the roof by her dupatta when she was alone at home. Her body was discovered by her husband in the evening. According to officials, chances of assault on the woman and other possibilities cannot be ruled out.
The relatives of the deceased reached Mumbai on Sunday from Karnal. According to police officials, they will record the statement of the relatives after the autopsy and then a decision will be taken on whether a case of abetment of suicide applies in the case or not.
