Will act against guilty members: Haribhau Bagde
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Haribhau Bagde, made it clear on Monday that stern action would be taken against the members who would be found guilty of dishonouring the national flag in the House. Mr Bagde made it clear while replying to issue raised by BJP MLA Ashish Shelar in the evening.
Earlier in the day, while pandemonium broke out in the Legislative Assembly over the issue of the chief minister’s statement over ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, some of the Congress members waved national flags in the House to highlight the statement of RSS general secretary Suresh Joshi that the saffron flag should have been chosen as the national flag in place of the tri-colour. They also tried to raise the issue of the tricolour was not being hoisted at the RSS offices for years. However, some of the members held the tricolour upside down and the members from treasury benches were quick enough to blame them for violation of code of conduct related to the tricolour.
Mr Shelar said, “I have seen video clips where certain members from the Opposition have held the tricolour upside-down. One member is seen wiping his mouth with the tricolour and some others are seen carrying it as a carry-bag.”
The Speaker said, “I shall announce the decision on Tuesday,” and assured them of stern action.
