‘When are you taking talaaq, Mr Raut ’

After a series of cartoons released by Shiv Sena and BJP taking pot shots at one another, the alliance partners continue to target each others’ leaders.

After a series of cartoons released by Shiv Sena and BJP taking pot shots at one another, the alliance partners continue to target each others’ leaders.

Shiv Sena, in its mouthpiece Saamana, has mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s celebration of International Yoga Day asking if Yoga would resolve issues like inflation. On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari has dared the Sena to walk out of the alliance.

In a sarcastic comment, Shiv Sena said on Thursday that bringing Yoga to the centre stage of the world was a praise-worthy effort, but questioned if the ancient form of exercise would relieve people of the pain of inflation.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi deserves praise for making 130 countries perform Yoga. The world bends if somebody makes it do so. Through Yoga, Modi made 130 nations lay on the ground. What is needed now is to make Pakistan lie down forever. This can only happen with the help of weapons. Pakistan deserves a permanent ‘Shavaasan’,” the Sena said. Shavaasan is a Yoga pose that involves lying down like a corpse.

“A lot can be achieved through Yoga. But, in daily life, can Yoga help in relieving the pains of high inflation and corruption It would be good if a clarification is given on this as well,” it said. Lakhs of people across India and abroad stretched themselves in various postures to mark the second International Yoga Day on June 21, as the Prime Minister maintained that Yoga is not a religious activity.

Not letting go of a chance to give it back to Sena, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari’s article published on Wednesday, in Maharashtra party unit’s fortnightly publication Manogat, titled ‘When are you taking talaq Mr Raut’, has dared Sena to walk out of the alliance. It has claimed that the BJP has made innumerable sacrifices in past couple of decades-and-a-half to keep the tie-up intact. The article also attacks Sena MP Sanjay Raut for his recent ‘Nizam’ remarks targeting BJP.

“On one hand they eat ‘biryani’ in plate given by the same ‘Nizam’ and on the other they criticise us. They have got ministries at the Centre and state, enjoy perks of power only because of the favour of the same ‘Nizam’ and then curse BJP. This is called ungratefulness,” the article said.

“If they feel so oppressed by the ‘Nizam’, why don’t they just walk out. But, they don’t show that courage,” it added. Mr Bhandari’s comment was referring to Sanjay Raut’s remarks that the BJP-led government at the Centre and in Maharashtra were worse than the government of Nizam.

“They sit with us, eat with us and then attack us as well...it’s better to take talaaq from the Nizam’s father. So, Mr Raut when are you taking talaaq ” Mr Bhandari asked.
