Warrant issued for 26/11 accused Abu Jundal

A sessions court in Mumbai on Monday once again issued a production warrant for Zabihuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case.

A sessions court in Mumbai on Monday once again issued a production warrant for Zabihuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case.

The judge G.A. Sanap had issued production warrant for Jundal and the jail authorities were supposed to produce him before the court on Monday but they did not bring him in, citing security reasons.

However, the judge said the accused should be produced before the court at least at the time of framing of charges and issued a production warrant again.

The prosecution’s case is that Jundal is one of the handlers of the 26/11 terror attacks and he was allegedly present in the control room across the border issuing instructions to the attackers after watching live news on television.

Meanwhile, the police had last month moved an application before the sessions court seeking issuance of letter of request (LR) against LeT operative David Coleman Headley for his production before the court through video conferencing so that he could be prosecuted in the case.

According to police, Headley deserves to be tried by this court together with Jundal as both of them are conspirators and abettors behind the 26/11 terror attack.

According to police, Headley has entered into a plea agreement with the US in 2010 and thereby voluntarily agreed he committed the conspiracy and so it is evident he has conspired with the LeT for committing illegal acts in India and waging war against the Indian government.
