The Mumbai police has given a clean chit to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan in the case wherein he allegedly abused a security guard and got into an altercation with him at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium during the 2012 IPL matches. In a report filed before the city magistrate court, the police also said that there was no evidence of Mr Khan using abusive language in front of children.

The Marine Drive police filed the report following a re-investigation into a complaint filed by social activist Amit Maru with the Maharashtra Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Mr Maru had alleged that Mr Khan had used abusive language in front of kids.

According to cops, there were around 15-17 children, including Mr Khan's daughter Suhana and son Aryan, when he got into an argument with the guard.

Confirming the news, the complainant’s lawyer Aditya Pratap said, “The police has filed a report saying there is no case made out against Shah Rukh Khan as he did not utter abusive words during the incident. We have received a copy of the police report. We would challenge the same through a writ petition.”

The police has claimed that after receiving a complaint from Mr Maru, it had conducted an investigation and had filed its report with the Child Rights Commission in 2015. However, unaware of this, Mr Maru had approached the metropolitan magistrate complaining about police's inaction. Following this, the police re-investigated the complaint. They recorded Mr Khan's statement and concluded that no case under Juvenile Justice Act could be made against him.

In June this year, the police had recorded the statements of security guard Vikas Dalvi, who said that neither Mr Khan abused in front of the children, nor was he drunk.
