Two youngsters who had met with a bike accident in Dadar TT early on Tuesday, succumbed to their injuries at a public hospital on Thursday. A friend of the duo was injured in the accident. The trio was returning home from Sidhivinayak Temple.

Siddhivinayk temple is scheduled to be shut for five days and therefore the three friends decided to visit the temple early in the morning on Tuesday.

According to police officials, they left home around 2.30 am and were returning home to Sion around 3.30 am.

The trio was travelling with two of their other friends in two motorbikes. One of the deceased, 20-year-old Surya Nadar was riding a bike on which 21-year-old Narvekar (also deceased) and Siddique (who was injured) were seated. Two of their other friends followed them on another motorbike.

Speaking about the case, Balasaheb Kakad, senior police inspector from Matunga police station said, “The trio was descending the Tilak Bridge at Dadar TT when Nadar, who was driving the bike, lost control. He was riding at a high speed and so, after losing control, he rammed into the cement railings at Dadar TT instead of taking a left to Sion.” He further added, “The two friends who were following them rushed them to Sion Hospital. Nadar and Narvekar died during treatment on early Thursday due to severe head injuries.”

“Nadar was driving rashly as the road was empty at that hour. Helmets would have saved their lives but none of them was wearing any.,” said inspector Kakad.

“The accident was a result of not following traffic rules and riding triple seat,” he said.

Nadar was a student while Narvekar had just begun to work in a small company.
