Truck topples over car in Chembur, 3 of family injured
Three members of a family including a man, his wife and child were injured in an accident in Chembur when a truck toppled over their car.
Three members of a family including a man, his wife and child were injured in an accident in Chembur when a truck toppled over their car. The truck driver has been booked for rash driving, officials said.
The mishap occurred at around 9 am on Saturday at Amar Mahal Bridge in Chembur. “A Maruti Zen was headed towards Sion Hospital and the truck which was on the opposite side of the bridge lost control and hit the divider, later skidding and toppling over the car,” said Vijay Khaire, senior police inspector, Tilak Nagar police station.
The victims have been identified as Ashwin Rai (36) who was driving the car, his wife Sangita Rai (31), and son, Devam Rai. The truck driver has been identified as Motilal Mahto (47). Officials said that the Rai family stays in Powai and was travelling to Sion hospital for a consultation with the doctor for their son. The family suffered injuries and one of them is said to be critical and has been admitted to Rajawadi hospital.
The driver, who was also injured, was admitted to Rajawadi Hospital and has been booked under the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.
